# Chuti Residence A dialogue of brick, light, and memories. Location: Chowgacha, Jashore Site area: 19 Shatak Built area: 2,300 sft (total) Year: 2024 Status: Ground floor completed Visualization: SketchUp + Twinmotion ## Project overview Set against the rural backdrop of Jashore, Chuti Residence is designed as a modern sanctuary that respects the traditional lifestyle of the village while introducing contemporary spatial efficiencies. The project prioritizes thermal comfort and daylight autonomy, so the structure performs efficiently in the tropical climate without relying heavily on artificial energy. The design balances the ruggedness of exposed masonry with the precision of modern geometry. ## Site strategy The building sits 30 feet back from the road, creating a transition zone from street to home. The entry path is angled to preserve existing mature trees rather than clearing the site. A boundary wall of circular "Jali" (perforated) blocks provides security while keeping visual connection to the neighborhood. ## Spatial zoning The layout is defined by level changes rather than walls: the living room is sunken at +1'0" while the dining and private zones are elevated to +2'0", creating separation between public and private space without blocking sightlines. A generous south-facing veranda with wide steps captures the prevailing southern breeze. ## Service core The kitchen is organized as a linear sequence — outdoor wood-fired kitchen, then a pantry/store buffer, then the main indoor kitchen — to keep smoke out of the living spaces while keeping supply flow simple. ## Materials The facade is exposed "Auto Brick" sealed with a silicon water-repellent for a maintenance-free, breathable skin. Custom-fabricated aluminum swing windows with a wood-grain finish allow full cross-ventilation, unlike standard sliding windows. Interiors use high-gloss white surfaces and tiles as light reflectors, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. The structure is designed to allow future vertical expansion.
